SHORT BUS

Since I'm totally challenged when it comes to all things techno, I didn't know how to make the link hot AND do the video.....oh well. I'll work on that....but for now, here is a hot link:

http://www.kmpx29.tv/shows/aqnp/

ETA: Posh Nosh is not a serious cooking show....it's a sitcom. (sorry that I didn't make that clear in the last post. =) )

I APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE

I apologize NOW for anyone I might offend.

Mexican TV....I'm not talking about news, soaps or such that are for spanish speaking audience....I'm talking about a comedy show, "a que no puedes." (which means, "Betcha Can't.")

You have probably done what I was doing this evening, mindlessly flipping through the tv channels, looking for something to watch. Most of you have cable, dish or satellite, so your trip through the channels is a LOT longer....it takes me about 23 seconds. One channel that escaped our deletion is channel 29.

Now I have often come across British programs on PBS. Some are lame, some are quite good...one is pretty twisted, but leaves me fascinated. It's called "Posh Nosh." It is supposedly a cooking show, but really disturbing. (I hope it doesn't disappoint people that I laugh at this....I have only seen it twice.)

"Lard makes me think of fat people in the co-op. Perhaps you're one of them." roflmbo!!!

But, Posh Nosh is not the reason I'm posting. No, this show "a que no puedes" is just weird.

Here is what I can tell (can't understand anything, though I'm sure one dude referred to his grandma at one point.)

Some dude, with really bad hair hosts a game show. There are scantily clad dancing girls....heh, I could do that, even with my body now. AND there are 2 clowns, for lack of a better title. All I know is one of them MIGHT be a hottie...except I can't get past his nose. LOL!

http://www.kmpx29.tv/shows/aqnp/

Go to the above link. Look to the right where it says "video." Play it and take a look.

Well, tonight, there was a singing group (the one where the lead was crooning about his grandmother) that was pretty good. The girls...well, they were a bit fluffy, but had GREAT hair. And there was a midget....er.....little person. Anyway, at the end, this mi...little person bowled himself under the legs of all who were on stage. NO KIDDING!

There were about 8 people who lined up, legs spread. And Shorty (not his real name) slid, on the floor, under these guys. I laugh just thinking about it.

I don't know...just thought I would share.

SHARE THE LOVE

I am continuing this:

My friend at tollesons4him gave me this sweet award. Thanks so much!

Crystal at Memoirs Of A Mommy created this award in honor of the donor that saved Noah's Life. Noah is her son and he had a heart transplant when he was under one month old. He just turned one earlier this month!! Her hopes are that in passing this award around, we are creating more awareness of the importance of organ donation. As Sarah did, now it is my turn to pass on the award to Share The Love and spread the word about Organ Donation. I am passing this on to: whomever reads my blog and blogs for themselves.

IT IS WITH GREAT

Pride....and quite a bit of sadness...that I announce my oldest son's birthday. He turned 9 today. I don't know how it is that his time with me is roughly half gone. I grieve, already his growing up, out and away.

My son, always my baby, forever my first born, does not need me as much as he used to. He probably doesn't want me around as much, either....thankfully, he doesn't show it too often and is patient with my hugs, kisses and pleas to not grow too fast.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SON. I love you SO MUCH! God loves you. May you always enjoy health and happiness. Be blessed.

IMPORTANT DAY

OK....this day is important for 2 reasons, but I shan't combine the ideas as one simply cannot be overshadowed by the other.

BUT....today IS June 25th...exactly 6 months from....YOU know! :D heehee!!!!

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!"

ABSOLUTE TRUTH

There are a few absolutes in life. But this post is not about things religious. The absolutes I am referring to are specific to our family. They don't HAVE to be absolute...they just seem to be.

"Here is "Absolute Truth #1". Powdered sugar is out to injure my hubby. It is true (heh...hence the title). For years now - at least the last 16 - it seems that my hubby, and powdered sugar have had a rather, um, explosive relationship. Only on our trip to Chicago did it become obvious.

You see, usually, when my hubby partakes of something with the confectioner's delight, he has a coughing fit. It is usually following a bite of powdered donut, or cake with a decent dusting. He ALWAYS takes a bite, and before he can swallow, starts a coughing streak. I usually laugh. He has yet to turn blue...he always recovers. Still, it's funny as all get out.

We decided this had to be an absolute truth when we were on our dinner cruise. DH got a bread pudding. It was YUMMY! He took his first bite and immediately started with his spasm of sputtering. We investigated his dessert and saw that there was just the slightest bit of a dusting on his plate....HIS PLATE! heh...it is still funny =)

"Absolute Truth #2" Bleach is NO FRIEND to my hubby. If there is any bleach, out of its container, and my hubby happens to saunter by, a drop of the bleach will leap out of the basin and splash onto my hubby. And he wears it in the oddest places....his left buttock, his right shirt sleeve, collar...anywhere but where you would expect the stuff to naturally splatter. I work with the stuff and 90% of the time, end up "UN-dotted." He sniffs in my direction and the stuff attacks.

This is how true this is....I dilute the stuff. In fact, you would probably have to soak something really dark, for a few hours, to get a lightening of color. My hubby walks past and next thing I know, we are tossing out something that has a dot or two of bleached out fabric. I even give verbal warnings...only by avoiding the location with about a 3 foot radius (which seems to be the "jumping capability" of the stuff) can he wear his clothes another day.

Well, there you have it. Another oddity in my family.

JUST BECAUSE

we are all so darn cute.

Actually, the grown-ups (me, in particular) are looking a bit wilted. I had been swimming and DH had been golfing. This is from our trip to the lake. The boys had been having a blast...and were WORN OUT when we got home.

COOL!!!

I've passed 10,000 hits. (Of course, several are mine, but let's not get picky, K?)

Anyway, thanks for reading!!! (and commenting)!

WHILE I WAS AWAY

I have thought, and rethought, on my next blog post. I had some "cute" ideas...but there is so much to talk about, I thought it best to just play catch-up and then go from there. That being said, this is what I have been up to for the past several days.

So my hubby and I went to Chicago on Father's Day weekend. We flew out on Friday morning and arrived early evening. We went to Millennium Park, sat in the amphitheater and listened to a Beethoven symphonic presentation. SO FUN. We met a pilot friend of DH's. He, and his wife, enjoyed the music with us. We then went and had some real, Chicago-style pizza. OMG!!! YUMMY!

We stayed at the Conrad...pretty nice digs. We got up the next morning and saw some of the sights....The Bean. (Really...it's a big bean. LOL)

Went to the aquarium and the planetarium. Though these were totally fun, the highlight of MY day was eating at Frontera Grill....a place I have wanted to eat for YEARS! It was so good and such fun. LOVED IT!!!!

Saturday night, we went on a dinner cruise on Lake Michigan. It was totally fun...though I DID fight a touch of motion sickness. I didn't embarrass myself...just had to keep my eyes (while seated) on my sweat hubby vs. on the coast. (Honestly, that was not such a bad deal. :D)

The next morning, we went to the Field Museum. It was a lot of fun. We saw a weather exhibit...bought son #2 some tornado "stuff." The boy is fascinated, and scared senseless, by twisters. So we are hoping education will help dispel the fear.

We flew home and happily greeted our boys, who had been staying with my parents. We hugged sons 1, 3 and 4. Upon hugging number 2, we were told, "Watch his head."

It seems that a mere 3 hours after we had landed in Chicago, my 2nd son was "riding" son #1. Apparently, #1...a.k.a. "Bucking Bronco" decided to throw his rider. Son #2, a.k.a. "Grace" fell INTO the hearth, cracking his head OPEN and spraining his arm. The night's activities warranted a trip to the ER where "Grace" was stapled closed and released for a week of "take it easy" and call on Friday. (And no, my folks didn't call because they knew our trip would be ruined...the boys were well taken care of.)

Friday comes, staples are pulled, arm is re-examined and LO and BEHOLD, the arm is BROKEN!!! (Yes, we will be dealing with the ER for releasing "Grace" with a broken arm and no splint or cast.)

But there was fun to be had between the staples put in and the staples pulled out.

Monday was filled with a bit of laziness on the parts of Mom and Dad...we were TIRED. Tuesday, I went to a "Girls' Night Out" and played Keno...SO FUN!

Wednesday, we went to visit DH's grandparents. They are funny...love 'em...but they are funny. "Quirky" might be a better word here.

Thursday, we went to the lake with some good friends. DH and his friend went golfing. The 2 of us moms took our 6 boys to the pool. We all had a lot of fun. We ended the day with spaghetti and the boys playing hide-n-seek and other chasing games. (One reason we were so bothered by the fact that #2 did NOT have a cast....we would not have let him run and play, had we known it was BROKEN!!! {Do I sound bitter?})

Friday, we had a day of pediatricians, orthopaedists, casts and McDonald's. Then there was a meeting at our church. We are about to move into our new building. Our old auditorium seats about 900. Our new one will seat 1750 with a capacity to expand to 3500. SO EXCITING.

Last night was a lot of fun for me. Our women's ministry group hosted an all-nighter. After the meeting, there were about 60 ladies sticking around. We had food, praise and worship, a serious (and wonderful) time of prayer, games and talk. Around 1:00, people began to trickle out...but there were about 12 of us (hard-core) who stayed until 5:00 a.m. I was SO tired when I got home. My hubby, wonderful man that he is, kept up with the kids and let me sleep until 2:30. LOVE MY MAN!

Well, that is it in a nutshell. I have SO much that I need to talk about still, but I wanted to get this up. I'll be back soon.

MY BABY

My baby has just turned 3. He turned 3 this past Saturday. He is one of the lights of my life. I'm sure I have told his birth story before, so I won't bore you with any details...I'll just recap.

I checked in on a Monday night, in order to be induced first thing Tuesday morning. I was ready to push about 2 hours after the drip was started. Doctor was late, I waited 30 minutes. The doc came in and 1 push later, my fourth son was born. (actually....that was pretty detailed ;) )

So, in order to prevent myself from waxing nostalgic, I'll just post a few (well, more than a few) pictures of my precious baby. The sizes are all different, depending on how I have them saved.

ONLINE PERSONALITIES

I have a friend who reads my blog and has, quite recently, become fascinated with one of the blogs that I read. The blog author is not someone I know at all. In fact, most of the blogs I read...well, I know 4 of the blog authors personally. The others, I have either "met" them through another message board, or I have connected with them through another blog.

For the most part, I don't think about the honesty of these writers. The people I KNOW seem to be honest in their posts. By that, I mean that their online "personalities" seem to match who they are. And I think (and hope) that people could say the same about me.

My aforementioned friend emailed me the other day, and referring to a blog author, said: "She is not who she says she is." Hmmmmm.....it didn't really upset me. I mean, I have no vested interest in this particular blogger. There are certain things I like about what she has to say. There are some things that leave me wondering about the state of things. AND there are some things I just roll my eyes and say, "Whatever."

But, this friend's comment did start me thinking on bloggers, in general. What an easy way for someone to be who they want to be?

Is it a problem?

Is this wrong?

Is is a lie?

I think the answers to these questions can be both "yes" and "no."

Is it a problem? I think it is not a problem unless the author slips into being delusional, thus causing problems for those around him or her. I also think it could be a problem if the reader is so caught up into what he or she is saying that the reader changes what would normally be done, based on a person's writings.

Is this wrong? Refer to the previous answer. I don't think fantasy or imagination is wrong. I mean, don't we encourage our own children to use their imaginations and to read fiction? But the minute my child, who often pretends to be Superman, decides to jump off a building, then the imagination becomes a problem. Once a person's fiction is life-altering, then caution MUST be used.

Is the blog author lying? In essence.....yes. That is if the author is trying to pass him- or herself off as something they are not.

Basically, the way I feel is this....BUYER BEWARE! I mean, really....you are reading what the author wants you to read. There is no regulation on what a person writes. The blog author can be as crude and vile, or as pristine and holy as he or she wants to be.

Blogs can be educational. Blogs can be informative. Blogs can encourage you to do things you wouldn't normally try. Blogs can be fun to read...and write.

Blogs can give misinformation. Blogs can contain filth that is not fit for any decent human being. Blogs can lead to jealousy and cause one to be misguided.

If you are going to venture into the blogging world (which I guess you have, otherwise you wouldn't be here, would you?) then just beware of the fact that you are probably not seeing the whole picture. You are seeing exactly what the author wants you to see.
