However, if you increment 10 from the beginning, AD1, then it should be divisible by 10.

Anyway, I got here from a site that says you host the "Making a Happy Home Monday" meme. Looks like you're not doing that anymore? I am looking around to join some family and Christian memes. Did you just skip it this week?

Sincerely,
AngelaAngelahttp://www.familyvenue.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28951865.post-58888662384251484022010-02-22T19:56:37.677-06:002010-02-22T19:56:37.677-06:00:).... A decade IS 10 years. But if you apply it...Hi LL-

A decade IS 10 years. But if you apply it to our calendar where there is no year "zero", the counting started at 1, AD1.

Even the US Naval Observatory and Greenwich Meantime say the 21st Century started on Jan 1, 2001 which means the first decade of this century is 2001-2010.

http://www.usno.navy.mil/USNO/astronomical-applications/astronomical-information-center/millennium/?searchterm=21st%20century

If we had a calendar based on when God created the world, then yes, we could start counting from zero. However, the calendar we use went directly from 1BC to AD1 with no zero in between to count from other than the first year, AD1.

Very Respectfully,
AngelaAngelahttp://www.familyvenue.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28951865.post-70332313460052329582010-02-22T11:30:10.217-06:002010-02-22T11:30:10.217-06:00Actually, Angela... with an equal amount of respec...Actually, Angela... with an equal amount of respect, I am pretty clear in how I understand stuff.... We will just have to agree that you disagree and I shall continue to consider myself correct. ;)

Thanks for reading!!!~LL~https://www.blogger.com/profile/08063070514324926522noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28951865.post-27536702807540678252010-02-22T10:57:36.958-06:002010-02-22T10:57:36.958-06:00Actually, with all due respect, this year IS the e...Actually, with all due respect, this year IS the end of the decade. It ends at the end of 2010. Then the next decade starts in 2011. This is because there is no year zero, we started with the year AD1.

So for your example, the last decade before this one was actually:

1991
1992
1993
1994
1995
1996
1997
1998
1999
2000

Then as far as centuries go (100 years), despite the fact that we celebrated the year 2000 on January 1st, the 20th century actually did not end until December 31st that year and the 21st century began on Jan 1, 2001.

That means the decade we are in started Jan 1, 2001 and will end Dec 31, 2010. Which means we are ending the first decade of the 21st century.

Then we call this the 21st century which will end in the year 2100, not 2099.

I hope that clarifies things for you. No disrespect, just trying to help.

Sincerely,
AngelaAngelahttp://www.familyvenue.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28951865.post-35913674289289982872010-02-22T09:49:52.703-06:002010-02-22T09:49:52.703-06:00HAHAHAHA!
